Immersed in a whirlwind of colourful lines and expressive pencil strokes is artist Claudine O’Sullivan, specialising in pencil-drawn studies of wildlife. Working primarily with colour pencils her designs are made up from layers of vivid pencil lines & shading to form her dynamic, illustrative style. Beginning with a rough outline and five different coloured pencils in each hand, she gradually builds her designs up with waves of fluid colour to create her vibrant animal studies.
Breaking the boundaries of pencil art one Norweigen Elk at a time.
Claudine’s subject matters are inspired by animals found both in her back garden and across the planet, from urban city foxes to remote Norwegian elk. Intrigued by their form and characteristics, her work expresses the animals’ personalities and movement in a graphically striking format, all through the humble medium of her colourful pencils.
