Inspiring Places – Monologue

Last week we stumbled across the beautiful, contemporary concept store ‘Monologue’ on Redchurch Street in Shoreditch, founded by interior designer Pavel Klimczak. He set the store up in September 2014 within the heart of Shoreditch, which to him ‘…is the hub for design and retail’.

The store showcases an exclusive selection of curated items for the home, including furniture, textiles, stationary and fashion accessories; created by some of the best emerging designers and established design brands.

Upon entering, the shop has an atmosphere similar to that of a design exhibition. Every item has been sophisticatedly curated, with an eclectic mix of designs from brands such as HAY, Cousu De Fil Blanc and Office Milano. This small shop is bursting with fresh and innovative design and as Klimczak describes himself is “…a place where people can be inspired, finding new things with fresh ideas”.

Our eyes were particularly drawn to the amazing range of stationary they stocked, which included the bold, memphis style notebooks of Office Milano, the textural cork notebooks of Nomess and the delicate, marbled notebooks of Amaretti Design. We were inspired by the way in which they were presented, using selective use of colour, props and patterned backgrounds to compliment their aesthetics and design.

This beautiful and inspiring shop is a place where most people would want to find themselves living in. It provides an exciting, broad selection of work from the best emerging contemporary designers and a never ending source of inspiration.

Be warned though, it’s hard not to leave without buying something!
