Our picks from Pick Me Up

Jack Sachs is one of this year’s Pick Me Up Selects artists, and his beautiful 3D illustrations of the inside of the human body make it clear why he was chosen. He said of the series, names Inside Ya Body, that it is a “100% anatomically correct look inside the human body. Look at how interesting our insides are!”

Peso Press have installed a letterpress studio where you can create your very own type-set designs, including not only English letters but also Thomas More’s utopian glyphs. As you can see we had a crack it ourselves, so we can vouch for how fun it is. They are also selling a whole load of glorious things from artists including Malarko, 45RPM and Darren John.

Julian Glander’s sculptures look strangely tasty, maybe because they look like they’re covered in hundreds and thousands. Along with his lenticular prints they make his wall one of the most tactile areas of the exhibition.

Alan Kitching: A Life In Letter is a retrospective of the letterpress legend’s work. Not only do you have the chance to check out some his incredible work, but he will also be doing live demonstrations of his technique throughout the week. Check the website for times.

Also amongst other not-to-be-missed events are Clay Collective’s workshops on a variety of different methods for working with clay, and a Digital Animation workshop with Rachel Ortas from Okido.
